CMBS stands for “Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities”. It is a type of loan backed by commercial properties that are “securitized” into a pool and then transferred to a trust. The trust issues a series of bonds that are sold to investors. These loans are almost always issued by Wall Street investment banks like Goldman Sachs.
There are only a few investment banks offering CMBS loans since the crash of 2008 and we have relationships with a number of them.
